Going North Movement

Every day, people ask the question: “When will we see change in our land?” The answer is clear, simple, and in need of execution: we need to be the change we want to see...

This is the slogan that sets the Going North strategy apart from other movements. Mediocrity and blame-shifting are fruitless and it is time for us to Move into Action. It is time for each of us to take responsibility and stop looking to government, institutions, and organizations to bring the change; we are to be the change...

Acknowledging that there are still many geographical areas throughout Southern Africa without the gospel, we do know that there is at least one vibrant church amongst each people group south of the equator. These churches were established thanks to various initiatives in the late 90‘s such as LSA - Love Southern Africa, as well as Project Focus which reached out to the 100 Least Reached People Groups of Southern Africa. Moving ten (10) degrees north from the equator we enter the 10/40 window, which is an area of the world that contains the largest population of non-Christians. Looking at the figure below, it becomes obvious that Southern Africa is ideally situated to become a major force in being a blessing to the north.

We are to be the salt and light. Salt is not the replacement of, nor an alternative of that which already exists. However, salt has the ability to penetrate without being noticed, yet able to bring the best out of that which already exist. In order for Southern Africa to become a blessing to the north, we are to firstly connect with the main focus of not replacing, nor being the alternative, but to empower...

With thousands of Entities of Change (EoC) already existing and making a difference in their own communities, and our interactive experience with many of these EoC, there is an indication that the greatest need amongst them is not money but people. There is a tremendous need for training and equipping of these EoC to become more effective in that which they are already doing.
